Books & Gay Teens

June 29, 2010

The New York Times published a great article last week on the importance of gay characters in YA fiction and the recent trend of gay characters in quality YA fiction.  Check out the NYT article here, (you have to register to view the article,) and the blog post that inspired it here. Such a great reminder of the important work we do!

Teen Christian Fiction

Mock Newbery 2011

May 26, 2010

Mark your calendars!  The 2011 OLA/WLA Mock Newbery will be held at our very own Cascade Park branch on Friday, December 11.  Linda (CP) and I will be organizing the Washington side of things and helping to select the books for the reading list.  Please let one of us know if you read something that is especially Newbery-worthy.  I’ve been slacking off on my J reading recently, (well, reading in general since I’ve crammed 6 seasons of Lost into a few months,) but I’ve got a tall stack waiting and a long weekend on the horizon!
